On-Grid vs Off-Grid vs Hybrid Solar: Which is Right for You?

Choosing the right type of solar system is one of the most important decisions you'll make when going solar. Each system type has distinct advantages depending on your energy needs, budget, and location.

On-Grid Systems are the most popular and cost-effective option. They're connected directly to the electricity grid and don't include batteries. When your panels generate more electricity than you use, the excess is exported to the grid and you earn credits through net metering. These systems are ideal for areas with reliable grid supply.

Off-Grid Systems operate independently of the electricity grid. They include battery storage to store excess energy for use during nighttime or cloudy days. These are ideal for remote locations without grid access. However, they're more expensive due to battery costs.

Hybrid Systems combine the best of both worlds. They're connected to the grid but also include battery backup. During normal operation, they work like on-grid systems with net metering. During power cuts, the battery kicks in to provide uninterrupted power. This is our recommended option for areas in Karnataka that experience frequent power outages.

For most Karnataka homeowners, we recommend either an on-grid system (if your area has stable power supply) or a hybrid system (if you experience regular power cuts). The PM Surya Ghar subsidy applies to both types, making them affordable options.

Arrow Power Controls specializes in all three system types and can help you choose the best option based on a free site assessment of your property.
